Lead and support a team responsible for producing accurate, timely, and high-quality underwriting decisions
Hands-on coaching and performance management for team members
Shape team operations through clearer processes and ongoing improvements
Partner with Processing and People Ops to ensure smooth workflow
Accountable for driving quality and meeting underwriting standards
Oversee performance management and complete performance reviews
Cultivate a positive team culture and engage employees
Train and onboard new hires
Manage team projects and organize meetings
Analyze data and produce valuable insights for leadership
Manage and coach to underwriting quality KPIs

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years of experience in underwriting residential loans
Experience leading a high-performing team
Proven history of successfully managing projects from ideation to execution
Ability to write effective policies and procedures
Ability to evaluate risk-based decisions made by your team, identify patterns in judgment or conditioning that need correction, and hold a consistent quality standard across all underwriters
Experience navigating cross-functional team dynamics and building consistency across adjacent teams
Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to have constructive conversations, set and meet deadlines, proactively communicate challenges and changes within your department, and relay information to all levels of management on a regular cadence
Ability to make data-driven decisions
Experience working with HEIs is preferred
Desire to participate in fast-paced early-stage startup
Adaptability: Embraces changing circumstances with resiliency and positivity
Team-Oriented: Prioritizes collaboration, inclusivity, and teammate support
