About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build the data foundation that powers Spendesk
- Lead the technical direction and delivery of the team responsible for making Spendesk’s data reliable, well-governed, high-quality, and easily accessible
- Work in a cross-functional squad composed of Data Engineer, Analytics Engineers, Software Engineer, and Data Product Manager
- Define architecture, raise technical standards, unblock engineers, review code and models, help the team deliver with more clarity, quality, and pace
- Lead the complete redesign of Spendesk’s core data model
- Support the migration to a new BI tool and the rationalization of existing dashboards
- Improve data quality, observability, documentation, and governance across the platform
- Help implement AI-powered tooling to make data easier to access and use
Requirements
What you’ll need- Significant experience in software engineering, data engineering, analytics engineering, or data platform engineering
- Strong track record of delivering complex technical projects in production
- Experience in a Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, Senior Engineer with strong leadership responsibilities, or Engineering Team Lead
- Comfortable guiding engineers and making architecture decisions
- Experience working closely with Product Managers or Data Product Managers
- Understanding of how to turn ambiguous business goals into pragmatic technical plans
- Experience in B2B SaaS, fintech, or regulated environments is a plus
- Strong technical judgment and hands-on experience in modern data platforms, including warehouses, transformation layers, BI, and semantic layers
