About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the strategy and execution of programs creating an exceptional employee experience across the team member lifecycle
- Oversee employee relations, HR operations, compliance, culture, and engagement
- Partner with business leaders to foster a high-performing, values-driven workplace
- Lead initiatives strengthening organizational culture, manager capability, consistent HR practices, and employee experience from onboarding through offboarding
- Champion Spear's culture and values and translate them into leadership, work, and people-decision expectations
- Lead, mentor, and develop the HR Generalist team
- Advise operational and functional leaders on organizational challenges and complex people decisions
- Support organizational growth and change, including new locations, evolving team structures, joint ventures, and other business initiatives
- Build manager capability through tools, coaching, feedback, performance management, and employee-issue guidance
- Oversee employee relations, investigations, performance management, and conflict resolution
- Ensure consistent onboarding, offboarding, employee transactions, and HR service delivery while improving processes
- Develop and maintain HR policies and practices in compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Lead engagement, recognition, communication, and culture initiatives
- Use data, trends, and employee feedback to evaluate effectiveness and drive process improvement
- Maintain connection with field leaders and team members to translate business insights into HR priorities
- Lead engagement surveys and action planning
- Develop retention, recognition, and employee-experience programs
- Partner with Learning & Development and Talent Acquisition on the employee journey
- Monitor workforce trends and recommend initiatives improving engagement and organizational health
- Support audits, compliance reporting, and employment-related risk mitigation
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including HR business partnership, employee relations, and HR operations leadership
- Experience supporting a multi-site, distributed, or frontline workforce
- Experience in healthcare, hospitality, retail, fitness, or other service-oriented environments preferred
- Experience in a high-growth or scaling organization
- Track record of building and evolving HR practices, processes, and infrastructure as the business grows
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance
- Strong business acumen and ability to translate operational priorities into practical people solutions
- Experience coaching HR teams and operational leaders
- Experience managing complex employee relations matters
- Ability to build scalable HR programs and improve employee experience
- Excellent communication, influence, relationship-building, and change-management skills
- Data-driven ability to translate workforce insights into action
