About the role
- Monitor clustered & replicated database systems health and configurations daily
- Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases in the operational, QA, and development environments and remediate problems/issues in a timely manner
- Perform day-to-day operational activities including troubleshoot, break/fix, and failovers
- Assist in the technical analysis and design for current and future projects
- Deploy clustered & replicated database systems within the operational, QA, and development environments
- Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc
- Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary
- Monitor backups and maintenance jobs
- Identify and tune badly performing queries
- Provide assistance with ad-hoc query development and data analysis
- Provide 24x7x365 on-call rotation for after-hours support
- Be a customer advocate by consistently meeting, exceeding expectations and incorporating customer service into all aspects of work
Requirements
- BA/BS Degree with at least 4 years of experience
- In lieu of a degree, 4 years of additional experience is required
- 4+ Years of IT experience, specifically in a DBA role
- 3+ years working with MongoDB OR 3+ years working with Sybase
- Experience with PostgreSQL
- Good team player with strong analytical, communication and troubleshooting skills
- Able to work under pressure and multi-task
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the US
