About the role
- The Data Scientist will ensure continuous improvement of the program’s data quality through solutions and strategies to address business challenges.
- This role involves working closely with data operations and reporting teams to design, develop, and execute automated data reporting solutions with the highest standards of quality and performance.
- This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a SAFe Agile environment.
- The Data Scientist will play a critical role in improving the quality and accessibility of data solutions to support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in detecting and preventing fraud, waste, and abuse within government-sponsored health programs.
- Collaborate with product owners, customers, team members, and leaders to shape data-driven strategies.
- Develop solutions and strategies to address business challenges.
- Research and devise innovative statistical models for data analysis.
- Automate repetitive reports and deliveries.
- Apply statistical methods, machine learning, and artificial intelligence tools to detect anomalies and trends to make informed decisions.
- Run data pilot analysis, comparative performance analysis.
- Streamline performance and data quality analysis on various data sources.
- Develop and deploy machine learning models into production environment by collaborating with other engineers and developers.
- Monitoring model performance, refine/update models algorithms as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams and developers to design, develop, automate and maintain data analytics reports and dashboards.
- Provide support in ad-hoc analysis to meet customer needs.
- Present insights and findings to business owners, customers, and leadership.
- Able to effectively transfer knowledge and train team members in the processes.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to provide input on testing progress and challenges.
- Continuously improve testing processes, tools, and techniques to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the testing efforts.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or similar role.
- Experience with data analytics tools (SQL, R, Python) and data visualization tools (like Tableau, PowerBI, AWS Quicksight).
- Experience designing, training, validating, and deploying machine learning models and algorithms.
- Experience with cloud computing tools such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Experience with version control systems (GitHub).
- Knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and data modeling.
- Experience with agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum) and tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment and deadline-driven environment.
- Proven track record of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Must have lived in the United States 3 out of the past 5 years.
