About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own inventory and cost accounting for products manufactured through contract manufacturers and EMS partners
- Manage full-cycle consignment accounting for inventory held at manufacturing and distribution locations
- Maintain inventory valuation and reserves for slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory in accordance with GAAP
- Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to validate inventory movements, cycle counts, and ERP cost data
- Lead or support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, flux analysis, and variance explanations
- Assist with financial statements and supporting schedules
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and support external auditors with PBC items and audit inquiries
- Prepare and review ASC 606 revenue recognition entries
- Prepare and review ASC 842 lease accounting entries and maintain right-of-use asset and lease liability schedules
- Implement process improvements and automation to reduce close cycle time
- Mentor and coach direct reports and support their professional growth
- Foster accountability, curiosity, and continuous improvement within the accounting team
- Build relationships with Supply Chain, FP&A, and Legal
- Translate accounting concepts into practical business guidance
- Support ad hoc projects, system implementations, and broader Accounting process improvements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and accruals
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with contract manufacturing and consignment inventory accounting in a manufacturing or hardware environment
- Experience with revenue recognition under ASC 606 and lease accounting under ASC 842
- Experience handling accounting and reporting for Special Purpose Vehicle entities and supporting standalone entity reporting
- Experience running the accounting close process and managing expectations, communications, and deadlines
- Experience with month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux/variance analysis
- Recent proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Proficiency with NetSuite
- Ability to build cross-functional relationships and communicate financial concepts clearly to non-finance partners
- Prior experience mentoring, coaching, or managing direct reports
- Agile, adaptable, fast learner, and comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proactive, self-motivated, takes initiative, and able to work with little supervision
- Team player with a positive attitude and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
- CPA, public accounting experience, technical accounting memoranda, and manufacturing/electrification industry experience are preferred or a plus
