About the role
- Develop new compounds to meet the performance requirements of the intended applications.
- Optimize existing compounds for cost, performance and quality
- Evaluate raw materials, raw material suppliers, and compounds for cost reduction and quality improvements.
- Perform standardized testing in the plastic laboratories.
- Characterize the chemical and physical characteristics of polymers and formulations using equipment such as DSC, TGA, FTIR, Rheometers, and related equipment.
- Generate compound prototype formulations on pilot-lab compounding equipment
- Document and communicate test results within multiple tiers of the corporate infrastructure and provide input for specifications on compounds and raw materials.
- Keep abreast of new technology in compounding and extrusion fields as well as industry requirements making sure it is incorporated where feasible.
- Interpret and implement regulatory standards and methodologies and provide technical assistance to compounding and extrusion operations.
- Complete assigned projects while adhering to deadlines given by the PVC Formulations Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree - Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other science field
- 0-2 years - Experience in a lab or production environment is preferred.
- Experience with Wire & Cable industry a plus.
