About the role

  • Participate in the design and construction of projects aimed at improving or extending the operational life of District flood protection and water conservation structures.
  • Provide technical review of construction plans, budgets, and cost estimates.
  • Perform tasks associated with complex multi-discipline capital improvement projects.
  • Conduct technical review of projects within expected time frames and established requirements.
  • Prepare and evaluate requests for proposals and bids; contract negotiations; contractor oversight, and cost tracking against budgeted funds.
  • Oversee the work of assigned staff or contractors.
  • Apply knowledge of civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering, as well as other physical, environmental, and construction principles to make sound recommendations.
  • Understand and apply water related laws, policies, rules, regulations and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree (or higher) in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Valid driver's license
  • Two (2) years related work experience for Engineer 2 role
  • Four (4) years related work experience for Engineer 3 role
  • Five (5) years related work experience for Engineer 4 role
  • Seven (7) years related work experience for Engineer 5 role
  • Valid Florida Professional Engineer license for Engineer 3, Engineer 4, and Engineer 5 roles
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred
