About the role
- Protects the organization's employees, patients, visitors, properties and all items of value on premises from preventable harm or danger.
- Maintains general order of the local environment and intervenes in disturbances in a calm and efficient manner.
- Detects, corrects, reports, investigates, manages, and mitigates safety and security hazards and violations on hospital campuses and off site properties.
- Assists in Incident Command situations, psychiatric patient evaluations, duress alarms, conflict situations, and hazardous materials/waste spills.
- Responds and assists with all medical emergencies within the scope of the officer's training.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Valid Illinois driver's license
- Level I (within 90 days) Essentials of Aggression Management (EOAM) certification
- Taser Certification
- Level II: Basic certification by International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety
- Level III: Advanced certification by International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read and write detailed reports
- Ability to respond calmly to emergency and critical confrontations
- Maintain a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality
- Requires experience with the public in a service environment
- Security experience preferred
