About the role
- Responsible for the overall design, implementation, operation, and support of the organization's enterprise-wide Server, Storage, and Backup strategy across various locations.
- Works within a team of server engineers to monitor systems to ensure configurations, performance, resources, and security of the systems meet user needs.
- Maintains and supports computer hardware and software, and diagnoses issues when necessary.
- Coordinates with the Security team to ensure security measures are effective.
- Trains junior personnel as appropriate.
- Escalation points for Service Desk and Tier 2 personnel when end user issues indicate larger problems.
- Participates in on-call rotation including weekend and after-hours coverage as assigned.
- Understanding of the organization, users and workflow hospital wide
- Ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, manage issues, oversight and implementation of project plans. Work with vendors, application analysts, customer service personnel, and end users to achieve desired organizational goals.
- Ability to probe for information about the underlying needs of the organization and user community, to ensure usability and efficiency for proper patient care.
- Thoroughly review, analyze and test every system change; follow proper change control processes.
- Assists analysts in the development, implementation, education, evaluation, maintenance and coordination of applications as necessary.
- Assists with and/or develops tip sheets or training documentation for new, or changes to current, workflows;
- Support and educate Service Desk and Tier Two support personnel as appropriate
- Responsible for the coordination and completion of assigned projects, including project definition, assignment of task responsibilities, setting deadlines, and all other aspects of project management.
- Assists with hardware and software budgets.
- Performs other related work as required.
- Trains and mentors team members.
- Strives to adhere to SIH Commitment to Care and ITS Core Competencies.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field or 4 years of experience combined with equivalent certifications in lieu of degree.
- 4 years experience supporting windows server / systems infrastructure, preferably in a healthcare environment
- Experience with Windows Server
- Experience with Microsoft Active Directory
- Experience with VMWare vCenter server
- Experience with VMWare Horizon VDI
- Experience with Citrix
- Experience with Dell Isolon storage or similar Enterprise storage solution
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server / MySQL / NoSQL / etc
- Experience with Linux Server (any commercial distro)
- Experience with Dell Avamar backup or similar
- Experience with Dell Data Domain
- Experience with F5 Load balancer
- Experience with Solarwinds or similar monitoring engine
- Experience with Imprivata or similar SSO application
- Experience with Enterprise Print Management solutions
- Experience with MS Azure AD
- Experience with Azure / AWS / hybrid cloud environments
- Experience supporting Epic EMR preferred
- Extensive vendor management experience preferred
- Valid drivers license required
- Appropriate certifications for the sub-specialty preferred, i.e. VMWare, Windows server, storage, backup, database, cloud, etc.
