About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Focus on identifying, evaluating, and tracking new construction opportunities across SJG and ETG territories.
Review residential and commercial projects—single family, multifamily, office, and retail.
Conduct research using meetings, databases, planning documents, and industry sources to track active and proposed projects.
Use Microsoft Copilot to process planning documents, identify opportunities, and organize project information.
Evaluate HVAC and mechanical plans to determine energy source selection and system feasibility.
Support development of new construction budgets, forecasts, and business tracking.
Upload, manage, and maintain project intake, workflow, and reporting in Salesforce.
Build and maintain relationships with developers, builders, architects, engineers, HVAC contractors, and customers.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or; Master’s degree with 0 years of relevant experience.
Working knowledge of natural gas and electric HVAC systems
Ability to review HVAC, mechanical, and planning documents
Experience with market intelligence tools, CRM systems (preferably Salesforce), and project tracking
Strong organizational, analytical, and relationship‑building skills
Willingness to travel, perform year‑round field work, and visit active construction sites
Frequently meet with contractors at construction sites with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, atmospheric conditions such as dust, dampness, humidity.
