About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Focus on identifying, evaluating, and tracking new construction opportunities across SJG and ETG territories.
  • Review residential and commercial projects—single family, multifamily, office, and retail.
  • Conduct research using meetings, databases, planning documents, and industry sources to track active and proposed projects.
  • Use Microsoft Copilot to process planning documents, identify opportunities, and organize project information.
  • Evaluate HVAC and mechanical plans to determine energy source selection and system feasibility.
  • Support development of new construction budgets, forecasts, and business tracking.
  • Upload, manage, and maintain project intake, workflow, and reporting in Salesforce.
  • Build and maintain relationships with developers, builders, architects, engineers, HVAC contractors, and customers.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or; Master’s degree with 0 years of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of natural gas and electric HVAC systems
  • Ability to review HVAC, mechanical, and planning documents
  • Experience with market intelligence tools, CRM systems (preferably Salesforce), and project tracking
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and relationship‑building skills
  • Willingness to travel, perform year‑round field work, and visit active construction sites
  • Frequently meet with contractors at construction sites with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, atmospheric conditions such as dust, dampness, humidity.
