About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform embedding, cutting via microtome, and prepare slides
- Perform routine H&E, immunohistochemical, and special staining procedures
- Perform and document scheduled instrument maintenance
- Recognize when troubleshooting is needed for processing, embedding, cutting, and staining
- Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards
- Champion safety, compliance, and quality control
- Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with privacy and security standards when accessing Protected Health Information
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6 months of histology laboratory experience, including embedding and cutting
- HT/HTL certification or graduation from a school of Histotechnology may be accepted in lieu of experience
- Strong reading, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to safely operate general laboratory equipment
- ASCP HT/HTL certification is preferred
- Graduation from a CAHEA/NAACLS-accredited school of Histotechnology is preferred
- Documented special stain and immunohistochemistry experience is preferred
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of Protected Health Information and follow privacy and security standards
