Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the production of annual financial statements, prepare audit files, and collaborate with external auditors on year-end analysis
Ensure compliance with tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions and coordinate local requirements with appropriate resources
Manage and support the accounting team, including coordination with international resources
Oversee the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable and receivable, using a cloud-based accounting system
Drive optimization of financial processes and track and improve key performance indicators (KPIs)
Manage tax credit and grant activities, particularly those related to innovation and technology development
Perform or oversee bank reconciliations across multiple currencies
Coordinate legal and administrative activities, including liaising with external partners and supporting contractual agreements
Oversee Canadian payroll processes and coordinate payments for employees and contractors internationally
Manage invoicing, including validation, coding, and transaction processing
Participate in strategic initiatives, including acquisition projects, financial analysis, and integration
Contribute to the annual budgeting process, financial forecasts, and periodic variance tracking
Work closely with leadership and operational teams to provide reliable financial information
Maintain up-to-date administrative records and collaborate with HR on employee data management

Requirements

What you’ll need

CPA designation required
7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including experience in a Controller or senior accounting role
Experience managing multi-jurisdictional tax compliance and multi-currency operations
Proven experience with cloud-based accounting systems
Experience overseeing or coordinating payroll, including international contractor payments
Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring an accounting team
Excellent attention to detail and takes pride in the quality and accuracy of work delivered
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once
Polished written and verbal communication skills.
