About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the primary liaison between the company and contractor leadership to promote safe work practices and compliance with HSE standards.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of contractor operations, with a focus on high hazard activities, including construction projects.
- Work collaboratively with the Capital Engineering team to ensure HSE standards are met on all capital construction projects.
- Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and training programs tailored for contractor personnel.
- Lead incident investigations involving contractors, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate pre-job safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ensure contractors are informed of site-specific hazards and requirements.
- Ensure contractors have appropriate certifications, training, and equipment for high hazard work.
- Track and report contractor HSE performance metrics, trends, and compliance issues to management.
- Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives to enhance contractor safety culture and minimize environmental risks.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in chemical manufacturing operations, with substantial exposure to high hazard processes.
- Proven experience managing or supporting contractor safety in industrial settings.
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, PSM, RMP, and other relevant HSE regulations for chemical manufacturing.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external contractor organizations.
