Oversee day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities and locations
Lead monthly and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and account reconciliations
Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and corporate policies across all accounting functions
Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering professional development and operational excellence
Collaborate with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support business decision-making
Lead special projects including system implementations, process improvements, acquisition accounting, international accounting, and new business ventures
Partner with operations teams on new studio openings and accounting setup requirements
Lead the annual audit processes with big four external auditors
Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls documentation
Report to the VP Accounting & Controller and support cross-functional strategic initiatives
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA license
8+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory role
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, particularly revenue recognition (ASC 606) and lease accounting (ASC 842)
Proven track record of leading month-end close processes and managing tight deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Excellent leadership and team management capabilities
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software and systems including Alteryx
Must be local to the Arlington/DMV area
Multi-location retail, or membership-based business experience (preferred)
NetSuite and Workday experience (preferred)
Public accounting experience (preferred)
Experience in fitness, wellness, consumer services, restaurant or brick-and-mortar retail industry (preferred)
Private equity or investor-backed company experience (preferred)
Experience with complex corporate structures and intercompany accounting (preferred)
Strong knowledge of IFRS and statutory reporting requirements (preferred)
Project management experience with system implementations or process improvements (preferred)
