About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the design and implementation of master data governance practices, including standards, stewardship roles, approval pathways, ownership responsibilities, and decision rights
- Recommend and implement ways of working that protect data quality, compliance, financial reporting, planning, procurement, and operational execution
- Manage the creation, maintenance, validation, approval, and continuous improvement of critical SAP master data
- Own governance and operational readiness across SAP master data domains, including Material Master, Business Partners, BOMs, Purchasing Info Records, Source Lists, Production Versions, Product Hierarchies, Units of Measure, Packaging Specifications, Planning Data, Procurement Data, Sales Data, transportation and shipping attributes, and quality management master data
- Partner with Commercialization, Product Development, Procurement, Planning, Manufacturing Partners, and Logistics to ensure master data is complete, accurate, controlled, and ready before SAP activation
- Enable new product introductions, product changes, discontinuations, regional launches, and acquisitions through accurate and timely master data execution
- Define KPIs, dashboards, audits, and reporting for data quality, completeness, compliance, and stewardship performance
- Create validation rules, naming conventions, approval controls, and remediation practices to prevent recurring data defects
- Lead master data readiness for launches and business changes, including new products, promotional items, regional expansions, reformulations, packaging changes, discontinuations, and acquisition integrations
- Drive cross-functional readiness reviews and validate end-to-end data dependencies before execution is impacted
- Serve as a senior SAP master data subject matter expert and translate complex concepts into practical business guidance and standards
- Create training, documentation, SOPs, process maps, and stakeholder education
- Coach and support Data Stewards through workshops, guidance, and operating routines
- Represent master data requirements in SAP projects, commercial initiatives, acquisitions, and transformation efforts
- Work with IT to strengthen workflows, automation, SAP capabilities, and S/4HANA enhancements
- Improve master data processes, workflows, automation, and controls to increase efficiency and operational resilience
- Establish governance practices, measurable data quality improvement, launch-ready product master data, and embedded stewardship routines within the first 12 months
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6+ years of progressive experience in SAP Master Data, Supply Chain, Procurement, Planning, Manufacturing, or related business functions
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with SAP master data governance and execution
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA implementations or transformation programs, preferably SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud
- Experience establishing or maturing master data governance frameworks within a global or high-growth organization
- Deep understanding of SAP S/4HANA master data, including Material Master, Business Partners, Bills of Material, Purchasing Info Records, Source Lists, Product Hierarchies, Production Versions, and related objects
- Strong end-to-end understanding of Procurement, Planning, Manufacturing, Inventory Management, Logistics, Commercialization, and Finance processes
- Experience enabling new product introductions and commercialization through master data readiness
- Experience with workflow management, data validation, governance controls, and continuous process improvement
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using reporting or analytics tools
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and business leaders without direct authority
- Ability to communicate SAP concepts to technical and business stakeholders
- Ability to create standards, policies, training, and change enablement practices
- Ability to solve complex business problems using process requirements, data dependencies, and scalable SAP solutions
- Sound judgment, pragmatic decision-making, and comfort holding standards before approval
