Senior Project Manager – U.S. Tax Regulation

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead end-to-end delivery of regulatory and strategic initiatives impacting US tax operational processes
- Manage full project lifecycle, including planning, execution, and delivery
- Coordinate across IT, Operations, Compliance, and US Corporate Tax/Finance teams
- Conduct impact assessments and translate regulatory requirements into functional specifications
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and data strategies
- Define and monitor delivery milestones, risks, and dependencies
- Lead change management activities including communication, training, and adoption
- Assess the current US withholding tax operating model
- Map end-to-end processes, roles, rules, and actual practices
- Identify reliance on manual processes and existing controls
- Identify gaps, risks, and pain points
- Diagnose operational and control risks, key dependencies, and single points of failure
- Assess alignment with US tax regulations and internal control standards
- Highlight issues across closing, trading support, tax operations, and finance
- Review process ownership and sustainability
- Evaluate ownership, handoffs, and timing of tax determination across teams
- Assess scalability and long-term viability
- Evaluate controls, KPIs, and governance
- Review control design and execution
- Assess oversight, escalation, and decision-making frameworks
- Develop operating model recommendations
- Define target state options across ownership, automation, and controls
- Present risks, trade-offs, and implementation considerations
- Differentiate short-term fixes vs. structural improvements
- Produce decision-ready deliverables: Current state maps, gap and risk analysis, target operating models, Executive summaries for senior management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Mandatory Experience in Financial Services (CIB / Banking environment)
- Strong Project Management and Change Management expertise
- Proven experience delivering regulatory or transformation programs
- Solid understanding of US tax frameworks: IRC Chapter 3 (NRA withholding), IRC Chapter 4 (FATCA), Treaty rate determination, 1042 / 1042-S and 1099 reporting processes
- Hands-on experience with US withholding tax operations
- Ability to translate regulatory requirements into operational and system solutions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience with complex systems, data flows, and operational processes
- Leadership experience in cross-functional environments
- Experience reviewing or transforming end-to-end tax operating models
- Strong consulting and diagnostic capabilities: Conduct structured operational reviews, Perform stakeholder interviews and facilitate workshops, Present findings to senior management
