About the role
- Design mechanical installations for experimental systems (flight test aircraft, structural or systems test rigs, wind-tunnel models) as part of aircraft development and Defense projects.
- Design structural modifications and systems on an aircraft required to convert it into a flight test vehicle.
- Perform design activities using CATIA V5 and Siemens NX.
- Plan and track design schedules for projects under your responsibility, ensuring adherence to allocated budgets.
- Interpret aerospace technical requirements to develop robust solutions that meet design criteria while optimizing cost and schedule.
- Conduct preliminary structural stress analyses on the systems and installations you design.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, serve as a technical leader, influence stakeholders, build strong relationships, and actively contribute to team development.
- Ensure project delivery by working closely with the experimental shop and actively supporting manufacturing, assembly, and installation phases.
- Manage priorities effectively in complex environments and confidently present technical solutions to management teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant mechanical design experience in the aerospace sector.
- Advanced proficiency in CATIA V5 and Siemens NX, as well as Microsoft Office tools, including PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong knowledge of structures, materials, and standard components used in the aerospace and industrial sectors; experience designing machined parts, welded assemblies, and sheet-metal parts, as well as familiarity with instrumentation.
- Excellent understanding of aerospace technical and regulatory requirements, with a proven ability to manage complex projects including planning, budget tracking, and risk management.
- Recognized technical leadership within multidisciplinary teams, with the ability to influence stakeholders, build strong relationships, and demonstrate accountability, judgment, and a strong team spirit.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) – an asset.
- Eligibility for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) – an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English – an asset.
