About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver Autotech training to AutoCare and Major Account shop employees to increase automotive diagnostic skills and decrease comebacks and parts returns.
  • Continually develop automotive/truck instructor knowledge and skills through study, train-the-trainer sessions, hands-on work, classes, and industry involvement.
  • Prepare extensively for classes and deliver subject-matter presentations using adult learning principles.
  • Develop training schedules with management and the NAPA Training Service Center.
  • Partner with division management to implement, pilot, and facilitate NAPA Autotech training programs.
  • Participate in course and curriculum development, deliver test-group courses, solicit feedback, and adjust content and delivery.
  • Work with internal and external customers to determine training needs and plan training events.
  • Communicate feedback about training events, processes, and materials to training management, course designers, and customers.
  • Assist with marketing training events and services, audience engagement, and follow-up.
  • Present at marketing and owners' conferences, Team NAPA meetings, DC sales meetings, and other NAPA events.
  • Correspond with management about training activities, test results, and evaluations.
  • Identify improvement areas, suggest corrective training courses, and follow up with customer evaluations.
  • Ensure participant prerequisites and pre-seminar materials are communicated.
  • Ensure effective learning environments, including meeting-room setup, automotive equipment, and materials.
  • Complete training administration, including rosters, evaluations, tests, booklets, handouts, forms, expense reports, and A/V equipment.
  • Maintain and protect assigned equipment, vehicle, computers, credit cards, and other assets.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • ASE Master Technician Certification required.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a working automotive technician.
  • Prior automotive, truck, or related training, facilitation, and meeting direction experience.
  • Prior experience of 2+ years successfully conducting adult learning programs.
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent experience, required.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and human relations skills.
  • High character, team orientation/fairness, excellent organizational skills, and accurate, timely reporting.
  • Minimum 70% travel required.
  • Ability to stand and talk for 4+ hours at a time with occasional breaks.
  • Ability to perform heavy physical activities, including lifting training props weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to maintain and protect assigned equipment, vehicle, computers, credit cards, and other assets.
  • NAPA product line knowledge is a plus.
