About the role

  • The Area Sales Manager plans, leads, organizes, and controls the activities of the assigned sales representatives within a specified area.
  • Supports and enables the sales representatives by providing objectives, training, and direction.
  • Provides customer service strategy and support for area and implements marketing initiatives.
  • Analyzes and assesses market conditions and implements marketing initiatives.
  • Analyzes and prepares sales forecasts and reports.
  • Collaborates with sales force in setting and achieving short and long-term sales goals.
  • Identifies critical skills for sales force and assesses and assigns sales territories.
  • Reviews and audits expense reports.
  • Prepares and administers sales budget.
  • Accountable for territory profit margin and sales growth goals achieved through training and coaching sales force.
  • Hires, trains, assesses, and evaluates staff performance.
  • Coaches and directs the activities of the work group.
  • Obtains and allocates resources as required.
  • Interacts with other department heads and sales force to assure quality service levels.
  • Identifies new sourcing opportunities and maintains current customer service levels.
  • Coordinates special events, develops marketing tools, and assists the Division Vice President.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree
  • five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in industrial sales
  • three (3) years of management experience
  • Experience in fluid power systems, applications, and design
