About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform professional and technical field services at client sites
  • Conduct transformer surveys and baseline measurements
  • Perform system startup, commissioning, integrated system testing, preventive and planned maintenance, and emergency repairs
  • Service Powersmiths and Socomec low-voltage transformers, PDUs, STSs, UPSs, ESSs, and related equipment
  • Maintain safety and perform all work professionally
  • Coordinate complex schedules, travel, and secure site access
  • Complete on-site activities accurately and deliver reports on time
  • Collaborate with client engineers, contractors, and other contacts to meet project requirements and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Review and interpret work instructions, manuals, commissioning scripts, electrical drawings, and one-line diagrams
  • Escalate issues to technical support and management teams
  • Build product and service knowledge through continuous learning
  • Work under senior technicians’ supervision while developing skills
  • Learn and perform transformer measurement, verification, and energy savings calculations
  • Analyze site constraints and transformer configurations to support replacement-transformer design, configuration, and production
  • Prepare and submit timely site reports
  • Complete classroom and field training for startup, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of PDUs and small/medium UPS systems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline preferred, or equivalent electrical or power electronics field experience or related military experience
  • Strong understanding of, or willingness to learn and adhere to, health and safety regulations and protocols including OSHA 1910 and NFPA 70E
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, electrical code, transformers, power electronics, PDU, UPS, energy storage systems (ESS), and static transfer switches (STS)
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver the highest level of customer service while working independently
  • Demonstrated ability to plan travel and develop and execute complex scheduling of client site visits
  • Strong knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the energy conservation market
  • Ability to collect and synthesize information from multiple sources to execute diverse projects, tasks, and issues
  • Ability to effectively represent Powersmiths and communicate with clients, contractors, commissioning agents, and others at varying technical levels
  • Ability to adhere to standards and ensure compliance with customers’ specific requirements
  • Ability to manage and accurately complete multiple tasks within tight deadlines
  • Able to obtain clearance to access schools and government installations; customer background checks and fingerprinting may be required
  • Must be able to purchase airline tickets, rent vehicles, and reserve lodging at own expense with monthly reimbursement
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and background check; ongoing or periodic testing may be required
  • Commitment to health and safety best practices and regulations
  • Adherence to company policies
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and basic TCP/IP networking
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid passport for international travel
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  • Ability to move, stand, walk, climb, bend, or kneel for extended periods
  • Ability to remain stationary for prolonged periods
  • Manual dexterity for wiring, equipment assembly, and tool handling
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to read technical documents, diagrams, and computer screens and communicate effectively
  • Regular travel to customer sites
