About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the technical vision, design, and implementation of database products for internal needs
  • Create cloud-agnostic abstractions and software infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Drive complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives from inception to production
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
  • Establish software engineering best practices
  • Harden database infrastructure to meet uptime, security, and durability SLAs
  • Participate in an on-call rotation
  • Lead incident investigations for complex production issues
  • Direct blameless post-mortems to drive permanent systemic improvements
  • Partner with Security, Infrastructure, and Site Reliability Engineering teams to support new product capabilities at scale

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • US Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) required due to compliance requirements
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 7–12 years of professional experience designing, building, operating, and scaling large-scale backend distributed systems in high-growth production environments
  • Understanding of databases, including PostgreSQL and Redis
  • Experience running large-scale distributed systems
  • Strong hands-on coding experience in Go, Java, C++, or Rust
  • Extensive experience architecting infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Experience with cloud networking constructs such as VPC peering, PrivateLink, and Transit Gateways
  • Proficiency in Terraform, Kubernetes, Ansible, or CloudFormation
  • Proven track record of technical ownership, breaking down ambiguous problems into concrete roadmaps, and delivering high-impact projects across multiple engineering teams
