About the role

  • Along with 5 other team members, help manage Snowflake’s Cloud Spend: track actuals vs forecast, partner with key stakeholders, and iterate to improve accuracy.
  • Become a trusted business partner to Engineering and Product Management on all aspects of cloud spend and cost considerations.
  • Own one portion of the cloud forecast and ensure compliance with recurring Finance cycles; focus on accuracy and process improvement.
  • Identify problems and abnormalities in infrastructure spend; resolve issues quickly and recommend ways to reduce COGS/OpEx and improve margin.
  • Answer detailed questions around unit economics via SQL queries; write queries from scratch to enable strategic decision making.
  • Partner with the BI team to build standardized tools for managing CSP spend and scale processes and reporting.
  • Be an expert on the cost reporting structure and AWS, Azure, and GCP offerings.
  • Work closely with Accounting on the monthly close process by providing guidance on COGS/R&D classification.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or Management Consulting. Experience working in a SaaS business alongside Engineering and Analytics teams is strongly preferred.
  • Comfort working with all stakeholders, with experience partnering with senior leadership.
  • Based on your FP&A experience, you understand how the close process works and how to juggle competing priorities and multiple deadlines.
  • Experience mentoring and reviewing the work of other team members.
  • Comfort with big data and strong Excel skills; proficient in SQL and using BI tools.
  • Preferred: Experience analyzing cost and usage data from AWS, Azure, or GCP; FinOps certification is nice to have.
  • Solid problem solving ability and experience working through ambiguity or unknown datasets; initiative and stakeholder influence skills.
  • Good understanding of GAAP and history of working with Accounting teams; ability to classify COGS vs OpEx.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts simply and present to VP/C-level leadership.
  • Thirst for knowledge and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting, CS, or other analytical field.
