About the role
- Edit YouTube-first educational content that aligns with Duolingo’s brand, mission, and learning philosophy.
- Craft narratives with strong pacing, clear hooks, and retention-driven creative choices.
- Deliver polished long-form content, cutdowns, short-form clips, and community assets.
- Work with producers and creative partners to refine story arcs and experiment with new formats.
- Maintain organized project timelines and file structures for consistent, efficient delivery.
- Use performance insights to evolve editing style and optimize content for engagement and reach.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of professional editing experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating storytelling craft (required).
- Deep proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or comparable editing software.
- Experience with graphic design or YouTube thumbnail creation (design + typography) is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of YouTube pacing, structure, retention tactics, and platform best practices.
- Experience editing educational, narrative, branded, or documentary-style content.
- Detail-oriented with excellent taste, creative instincts, and a high bar for polish.
- Collaborative and adaptable, comfortable working in fast-moving production cycles.
- Passionate about making learning fun, accessible, and visually compelling for global audiences.
