About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Trims trees to clear right-of-way for electric power lines to minimize storm and short-circuit hazards
- Climb trees to reach branches interfering with wires and distribution lines
- Prune treetops
- Operate spray gun from truck and/or backpack spray gun to release chemicals and/or herbicides onto right of way growth
- Operate and help maintain saws, chipper, hand tools and any other needed tools or equipment
- Remove broken limbs from wires
- Cut down trees interfering with power service
- Work from bucket of extended truck boom to reach limbs
- Assist in training new personnel when assigned to crew
- Operate tractor and bush hog
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience operating a chainsaw, bush hog and tractor
- Experience operating a tree-trimming bucket truck
- Knowledge of CPR and first aid
- Read and comprehend/carry out detailed instructions
- Work overtime as needed
- Valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License and Medical Examiner's Certificate of Qualification
- High school education or GED
- One year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
