About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Assist in maintaining acceptable levels of standard materials on truck
Assist in all ground work while linemen are performing their duties
Assist in installing splices on de-energized U/G secondary and primary conductors
Assist in placement of U/G transformers and pads
Assist in terminating U/G cables in transformers
Assist in the installation of streetlights and related equipment
Assist in framing and setting of poles
Assist in digging anchors and pulling wires
Safe operation of chain saws and basic Right of Way skills
Drive ground rods
Place primary and secondary in trench in the construction of an U/G service or subdivision
Spot/locate other utilities while digging
Load/unload transformers and other material
Check voltage in meter base and service stubs using voltmeter
Assist in patrolling lines during outages
Assist in safe roadside work zone set up
Identify visually other utility’s placement and identifying markers
Start development of knowledge of electrical system hazard recognition
Start development of knowledge of safe construction work practices
Required to climb poles periodically for training purposes only and perform Bucket Truck Rescue
Other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Valid Georgia Driver's License
High school education or GED
One-year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Read/interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Understand and carry out detailed instructions
Speak effectively with customers or other employees
Know CPR and basic first aid
Work overtime as needed
Obtain Georgia Commercial Driver's License and Medical Examiner's Certificate of Qualification within 12 months
