About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Service, maintain, diagnose, and repair Volvo construction equipment and other machinery across HS2 project sites
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related faults using technical expertise and diagnostic tools
- Act as the primary customer contact, providing machine-status updates, repair progress, and recommended actions
- Complete job documentation, inspection reports, timesheets, and electronic records accurately and in real time
- Maintain safety, professionalism, housekeeping, and compliance with company and site procedures
- Identify opportunities to improve machine performance and maximise equipment uptime
- Work independently and directly with customers across the southern section of the HS2 project
Requirements
What you’ll need- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or a related engineering discipline
- Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, drivetrains, electrics, and diagnostic systems
- Advanced fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a field-based environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to travel, work overtime, and support customer requirements when needed
- Applicants must have experience maintaining and repairing construction plant equipment
