About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Service, maintain and repair Volvo Construction Equipment and other machinery as required
- Carry out repairs in line with quotations and agreed timescales, highlighting any additional work requirements
- Diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
- Complete service inspection reports, oil sample reports and other required documentation accurately
- Record time and job information electronically in real time
- Order and manage parts required to complete repairs
- Ensure software updates are installed as new versions become available
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Attend product and technical training to maintain and develop technical competence
- Work in accordance with SMT GB's health, safety, quality and environmental standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Mechanics or a related discipline
- Experience repairing and maintaining heavy construction plant equipment
- Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, driveline systems and electronics
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers
- Basic IT skills
- A high level of attention to detail and commitment to quality
- A reliable, conscientious and professional approach to work
- The ability to understand and follow technical literature, service bulletins and parts manuals
- Desirable Welding, fabrication and line boring experience
