About the role

  • Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM), sampling, flushing (occasionally in Cardiff too), disinfecting, and chemical treatment of water systems.
  • Carry out remedial works, tank cleaning, and chlorination as required.
  • Ensure compliance with ACOP L8, HSG274, and other water hygiene standards.
  • Accurately record and report all site activities using company software systems.
  • Identify and report system issues or non-compliances to Account Managers.
  • Liaise professionally with clients and represent SMS Environmental on-site.
  • Support training and mentoring of new or junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in water hygiene, treatment, or Legionella control.
  • Good communication and client interaction skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.
  • Strong understanding of water hygiene legislation and best practices.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace (COSHH, risk assessments, etc.).
  • City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Water Hygiene.
  • Full UK driving licence.
