About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide support and work closely with the Executive Director of Business Accounting and Accounts Payable Manager
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Business Accounting Office
  • Responsible for the oversight of accounting processes, records, and reports
  • Responsible for bank and general ledger reconciliations
  • Support the monthly close cycle, the year-end close cycle, internal and external audits, business filings, and all related reconciliations
  • Collaborate with the accounting team and functional heads of other departments
  • Complete daily cash reporting and monthly reconciliation of multiple cash accounts
  • Update QuickBooks bank reconciliation module daily for cleared checks and other posted activity
  • Prepare work papers for the annual external audit
  • Review subledger detail (Orbund) to general ledger and correct errors as necessary
  • Maintain fixed asset and capital lease equipment schedules and record monthly depreciation
  • Ensure that all journal entries, workpapers, reports and work processes are thoroughly documented and that proper files are maintained.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • CPA or Master's degree is a plus
  • Three to six years of bank reconciliation experience
  • Minimum of five years of experience in financial accounting at a complex and diverse organization required (experience in higher education is strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, problem-solving, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving dynamic environment which demands strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates well-developed accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP and FASB pronouncements.
  • Familiarity with financial and procurement systems; QuickBooks and Procurify is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • The ability to execute Excel functions like index, vlookup, sumif/sumifs, pivot tables.
