About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the product vision and roadmap for decoupling core data ingestion modules into scalable standalone microservices
- Productize event-driven and streaming ingestion pipelines using technologies such as Kafka and Spark Structured Streaming
- Establish API contracts, event interfaces, and integration specifications for HL7 v2, C-CDA, FHIR JSON, and claims data sources
- Define requirements for migrating analytics pipelines to Databricks/Medallion Architecture using Apache Spark
- Drive the design of optimized Silver and Gold datasets using Delta Lake/Parquet columnar models
- Balance real-time low-latency micro-batches with cost-optimized daily batch workloads
- Own product requirements for the FHIR-native Master Data Management engine
- Define deterministic and probabilistic patient matching rules and survivorship logic for Golden Records
- Design crosswalk management for source-to-target entity linkages
- Build the end-to-end exception lifecycle from Dead-Letter Queues to structured error reporting
- Define Data Steward interfaces and APIs for reviewing exceptions, merging/unmerging records, and correcting payloads
- Architect idempotent replay mechanisms for re-ingesting corrected payloads without duplicates or corrupted state
- Drive the transformation of Smile Digital Health’s high-throughput data ingestion and data management architecture

- Deep familiarity with Databricks/Lakehouse Medallion Architecture and Delta Lake/Parquet performance patterns
- Experience optimizing nested arrays and hierarchical data structures for OLAP query engines
- Direct experience productizing Master Data Management, entity resolution, or identity matching tools
- Experience with event-driven architectures, Dead-Letter Queues, and data replay/remediation workflows
- Ability to write and execute SQL and Python to analyze datasets, validate engine output, and define logic rules
- Experience with healthcare data standards including HL7 FHIR, C-CDA, or HL7 v2 (nice to have)
- Exposure to SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm, or ICD-10 (nice to have)
- Familiarity with SQL-on-FHIR analytics standards (nice to have)
