About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop, build, test, and deploy custom software solutions using Smartsheet and third-party APIs
Design and build AI-powered workflows and automations using LLMs, AI agents, and Smartsheet native AI capabilities
Use AI coding assistants such as Claude Code to accelerate development, prototyping, and delivery
Evaluate emerging AI tools and techniques
Lead technical consulting engagements, design sessions, technical requirements, and architecture validation
Design and document technical solutions aligned with client business objectives
Partner directly with customer teams to translate business pain points into working solutions
Rapidly prototype and iterate based on customer feedback
Own solutions from discovery through deployment, adoption, and production refinement
Build reusable components, frameworks, and accelerators
Serve as Smartsheet subject matter expert on product capabilities and AI-powered API extensibility
Manage technical project schedules, deliverables, deadlines, and client relationships
Drive technical delivery of custom development, integrations, and data migration
Maintain target billable utilization
Provide feedback to Product and Platform Engineering teams
Report to the Director, Solution Architect

Requirements

What you’ll need

3 years relevant work experience or equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education
Working experience with two or more of .Net, NodeJS, Python, Java, and Ruby
Full-stack development skills and ability to independently design, build, and ship production-quality applications
Familiarity with AI/LLM technologies and experience integrating them into applications via APIs
Working knowledge of prompt engineering and AI agent design patterns
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code
Willingness to travel periodically, up to 15%
Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
Ability to explain technical subjects to non-technical end users in large enterprises
Proven ability to drive projects from concept through completion with minimal guidance
Customer-facing experience
Ability to operate autonomously in ambiguous, fast-changing environments
Experience rapidly prototyping and iterating based on direct customer feedback
Experience working with SaaS/IPaaS applications in an enterprise environment
Understanding of systems architecture and scalable, performance-driven solutions
Understanding of key design patterns and large data volume best practices
Knowledge of data integration and integrating SaaS applications with business systems, including ETL, CRM, analytics, and reporting
Bachelor’s degree in MIS, CIS, or CS preferred but not required
