About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- We're looking for a Mid-Level Business Analyst to join our delivery team and own the space between business intent and technical execution.
- You'll work directly with clients to shape requirements, protect delivery scope, and ensure the team always has the clarity it needs to build the right thing - first time.
- This is a hands-on role at the heart of the sprint cycle.
- You'll write User Stories consumed directly by developers and QA, facilitate 3 Amigos sessions before each sprint, and act as the primary liaison between the client and the delivery team.
- Gather, analyse, and document business and functional requirements through structured workshops, interviews, and collaborative sessions with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Write User Stories with clear Acceptance Criteria in Given/When/Then format - covering functional logic, edge cases, and UI/UX behaviour - to a standard consumed directly by developers and QA without hand-holding.
- Review Figma wireframes and user flows produced by the Designer, annotating for requirement alignment and flagging gaps before handoff to development.
- Facilitate 3 Amigos sessions (BA + Dev + QA) before each sprint to surface ambiguity early and reduce mid-sprint clarification cycles.
- Ensure all stories meet the Definition of Ready before sprint planning - complete, estimated, and unambiguous.
- Provide clear, timely handoff of requirements to development and QA teams; remain available for Q&A throughout the sprint.
- Participate actively in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, and retrospectives.
- Maintain requirement traceability from business need through to acceptance test.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the client and the internal delivery team - representing both sides with clarity, honesty, and professionalism.
- Lead scope conversations directly: assess new requests against MVP boundaries, challenge additions with documented rationale, and propose phased or simplified alternatives where appropriate.
- Proactively distinguish must-have MVP requirements from nice-to-haves; manage a post-MVP backlog with clear, agreed deferral rationale.
- Facilitate client walkthroughs, sprint demos, and UAT sessions; triage feedback to differentiate genuine defects from scope additions.
- Produce status updates, decision logs, and scope change records that keep all stakeholders fully informed and aligned.
- Review deliverables against acceptance criteria during QA and UAT; raise and track defects with supporting evidence and clear priority classification.
- Identify compliance implications (e.g. CASS, AML, data privacy) when documenting requirements; flag regulatory uncertainties early for specialist review.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of BA practices, templates, and team ways of working.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4 - 6 years of experience as a Business Analyst on software delivery projects - ideally in a product or consultancy environment.
- Demonstrably strong User Story writing: clear, structured, consumable directly by developers and QA with no bridging or interpretation needed.
- Solid Agile delivery experience - Scrum, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives as a practising participant, not an observer.
- Proven requirement elicitation skills: workshops, stakeholder interviews, process analysis, and gap identification.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and defend scope: able to say no professionally, back it with evidence, negotiate phased alternatives, and document decisions clearly.
- Confident communicating with non-technical clients and cross-functional technical teams; comfortable leading difficult conversations without unnecessary escalation.
- Proficient with Jira, Confluence, and Figma (review and annotation level minimum).
- Strong written and spoken English - able to produce client-facing documentation independently and present clearly under pressure.
