About the role
- Lead technical delivery on client projects, setting standards for quality and performance
- Design and implement robust kdb+ architectures handling billions of rows of time-series data
- Collaborate with quants, traders, and analysts to translate business needs into performant, efficient code
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers, fostering technical excellence
- Own the full development lifecycle: develop, test, support, and maintain client application code
- Drive innovation and stay current in kdb+, q, and adjacent technologies
- Ensure scalability and reliability of production kdb+ environments
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on kdb+ development
- Deep expertise in q and time-series data
- Proven experience designing and scaling kdb+ systems in production
- Strong background in Unix/Linux environments and scripting
- Demonstrated technical leadership and decision-making
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex systems to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in capital markets or investment banking
- Passion for clean, performant code
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Python and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with other time-series databases, tick data, real-time analytics, or electronic trading systems
- Nice-to-have: Prior team leadership or people management experience
