About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Monitor surplus portfolios globally
Support the development of surplus investment strategies
Assist in monitoring FVOCI, liquidity positions, and tactical surplus trading initiatives
Support investment strategy and optimization reviews across Sun Life’s business groups
Contribute analysis for portfolio construction trade-offs
Partner with the bond desk to develop TAA views
Prepare high-quality analytics and reporting for senior management
Support annual business planning and forecasting processes
Partner with internal teams to deliver cross-enterprise projects

Requirements

What you’ll need

3+ years of experience in investment strategy, portfolio management or related fields
Strong understanding of modern portfolio theory and asset pricing
Broad knowledge of asset classes; familiarity with insurance liabilities and surplus portfolios is an advantage
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills
Collaborative and proactive approach
Proficiency with financial tools/software such as Bloomberg, BlackRock Aladdin, or Morningstar Direct (a plus)
University degree in Finance, Business, or Economics; CFA designation (or progress toward) preferred
