About the role

  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping
  • Handle invoicing, AR, AP, and expense tracking
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Maintain clean and accurate books at all times
  • Ensure financial data is audit-ready
  • Prepare monthly financial reports (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet)
  • Track budget vs actuals
  • Monitor profitability by department or category
  • Highlight trends, risks, and red flags
  • Analyze spending and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Advise leadership on when to reduce or reallocate spending
  • Monitor marketing and operational expenses
  • Help improve margins and cash flow
  • Flag inefficiencies and recommend optimizations
  • Lead a monthly financial review meeting with leadership
  • Explain what happened financially that month
  • Clearly outline: What went wrong, What improved, What needs to change next month

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or Senior Accountant
  • Strong experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
  • Solid understanding of cash flow, P&L, and cost management
  • Ability to explain financials in plain English
  • Comfortable challenging decisions and giving honest feedback
  • Highly organized, reliable, and detail-oriented
  • Experience working with small or growing businesses (Nice to Have)
  • Experience advising owners or leadership teams (Nice to Have)
  • Experience managing budgets and forecasting (Nice to Have)
