About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Shape the future of the Horizon platform and SkySpecs’ software development approach
Build end-to-end full-stack software for wind and solar inspection and asset management
Work with product managers, customers, internal users, and engineers to understand requirements and outcomes
Formulate solutions, evaluate tradeoffs, and create implementation plans
Author infrastructure as code
Design and implement services and APIs
Build reusable user experiences and workflows
Improve reliability, performance, security, and developer productivity
Review code generated by peers and autonomous agents
Use AI tools and autonomous agents to accelerate delivery
Build internal tooling and automation
Improve documentation, architectural clarity, testing, observability, and deployment workflows
Reduce operational toil and expand AI and agent capabilities
Explore ideas, experiments, and prototypes that improve Horizon and engineering practices
Deliver measurable outcomes rather than lines of code

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years in roles writing, shipping, and operating production software
Depth in at least one part of the stack and ability to work across the rest
Strong software engineering fundamentals and systems thinking
Ability to independently drive work from requirements through delivery
Good judgment regarding tradeoffs, architecture, and maintainability
Strong written communication skills
Ability to work within cross-functional teams of technical and non-technical contributors
Ability to work effectively across multiple layers of the stack
Experience with AI-assisted and agentic development workflows
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted and agentic development workflows and a track record of evolving their use
Sound judgment when using AI tools, including reviewing and correcting agent-generated code
Bonus: familiarity with AWS, GitLab, Auth0, Grafana, Terraform, Kafka, Node.js, Nest.js, TypeScript, Apollo GraphQL, React, Ant Design, Vitest, Playwright, and PostgreSQL
Bonus: experience building internal platforms, developer tooling, or automation systems
Bonus: experience operating distributed systems at scale
Bonus: background in utility-scale energy generation, especially renewables
