About the role
- Lead and oversee the organization’s data strategy, architecture, and governance
- Provide strategic direction and hands-on leadership to a team including a Data Architect, Data Engineer/Platform Engineer, and third-party data resources
- Work with Data Architect to design and implement data architecture solutions using Snowflake and Azure
- Translate business needs into data solutions that enable data-driven decision-making and analytics
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure data initiatives deliver measurable impact on key outcomes
- Establish and enforce data governance policies with IT, security, and compliance teams
- Lead efforts to maintain data security and quality, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and protection
- Oversee data lifecycle activities including acquisition, storage, transformation, and access with focus on scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency
- Collaborate with systems architects and IT teams to align data strategies with enterprise systems architecture
- Stay current with data management and systems architecture trends and incorporate innovative practices and tools
- Manage and mentor internal and external data engineering resources to deliver high-quality data solutions
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise data management
- Proven track record in designing and implementing data solutions within complex data environments
- Deep expertise in Snowflake
- Deep expertise in Azure data services
- Strong understanding of systems architecture principles and systems integration
- Demonstrated success in establishing and managing data governance, quality, security, and compliance frameworks
- Proven ability to build relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in leading and mentoring teams of data engineers, architects, and analysts
- Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies, particularly in data and software development projects managed within Azure DevOps
- Extensive experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD
- Experience with Azure Data Factory for ETL and orchestration
- Experience with Azure Infrastructure for data storage and compute management
- In-depth understanding of Snowflake’s architecture, scaling, security, and performance optimization
- Proficiency in GitHub and version control best practices
- Experience with data modeling and architecture in a cloud environment
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards such as GDPR and CCPA
- Advanced SQL skills and experience with Azure SQL Database and cloud-native solutions
- Familiarity with analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI
