Application Engineer – Data Centers
Skeleton TechnologiesApplication Engineer supporting data center customers and partners with power infrastructure. Providing pre-sales and post-sales technical support and optimizing system architectures for energy efficiency applications.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- - Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support to data center customers and partners.
- - Collaborate with sales teams to identify customer requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- - Develop and optimize system architectures for integrating Skeleton’s ultracapacitors into data center UPS, backup power, and energy efficiency applications.
- - Conduct on-site visits, technical trainings, and product demonstrations.
- - Support system design, including electrical schematics, thermal considerations, and lifecycle cost analysis.
- - Work closely with R&D and Product Development to communicate field feedback and improve product-market fit.
- - Prepare technical documentation including specifications, integration guides, and white papers tailored for the U.S. data center market.
- - Ensure compliance with relevant U.S. industry standards and certifications (UL, IEEE, etc.).
Requirements
What you’ll need- - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related technical field.
- - 3+ years of experience as an application or field engineer in the data center or power infrastructure industry.
- - Strong knowledge of power backup systems, UPS, batteries, and/or ultracapacitors.
- - Familiarity with thermal management, grid-tied systems, and data center operational requirements.
- - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- - Ability to travel domestically (up to 25–40%) for customer meetings and site support.
- - Authorization to work in the U.S.
- **Extra cookie points for additional qualifications:**
- - Experience working with Tier 1 or hyperscale data center operators.
- - Knowledge of energy storage regulations and incentive programs in the U.S.
- - Hands-on experience with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS) or electrical CAD tools.
- - Experience with industrial or grid-connected systems, especially in backup power applications.
