About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own backend features for AI-powered educator tools across architecture, implementation, deployment, and observability
Design and build data ingestion and transformation pipelines, including event sourcing, stream processing, aggregation layers, and real-time and batch analytics
Build and evolve APIs serving learning insights and AI-generated content
Integrate LLM capabilities through orchestration, structured output parsing, RAG, caching, and model-call cost control
Use agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex for scaffolding, test generation, and first-pass implementations, then review and own the output
Write specifications, ADRs, and context documentation
Ship features with Flutter engineers, product managers, and designers
Automate repetitive engineering work through CI checks, code review triage, documentation generation, and migration scripts
Directly shape AI-powered tools that help trainers and educators work smarter and faster

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of backend development on production systems
Strong Node.js and TypeScript fundamentals
Strong GCP fundamentals, including Firestore, BigQuery, Spanner, Cloud Functions, and Pub/Sub
Experience with both NoSQL and SQL databases
Ability to reason about data modeling trade-offs, consistency guarantees, and query performance
Daily use of AI coding tools
Systems thinking focused on failure modes, scalability, and data consistency
Clear, async-first written communication
English is the working language
Nice to have: production LLM experience, ed-tech or learning analytics background, event-driven architectures and stream processing, Terraform and CI/CD ownership, product-trio experience, and hands-on Spanner experience
