About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Join SignalFire’s Talent Network for Controllers at VC-backed startups rather than applying for one specific job
- Own and oversee accounting operations, including GL, AR/AP, payroll, and revenue recognition
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Lead external audits and coordinate with external tax and audit partners
- Implement and optimize financial systems, processes, and internal controls
- Partner with FP&A, Legal, and Operations to align financial data with company goals
- Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and board reporting packages
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning with finance leadership
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
- Build, mentor, and manage small accounting teams as companies scale
- Submit an application for review and potential matching with SignalFire portfolio companies
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- At least 2+ years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role
- Prior experience in a venture-backed startup or high-growth environment
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and compliance frameworks
- Experience managing audits and working with external accounting firms
- Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Ramp, and Bill.com
- CPA certification strongly preferred
- Background in SaaS, fintech, or technology sectors is a plus
