About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Designing low voltage (LV), high voltage (HV), and extra high voltage (EHV) electrical power systems
  • Leading a team of engineers and drafters for substation engineering design projects
  • Developing single-line switching and protection diagrams
  • Creating equipment specifications and supporting procurement of equipment
  • Developing and maintaining a bill of material
  • Conducting required calculations and creating reports on AC and DC systems
  • Developing control panel layouts and wiring diagrams
  • Coordinating design with clients, vendors and subcontractors
  • Ensuring all engineering documents and records are properly maintained

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ Years’ Experience in Design of Transmission Level Substations (13.8kV – 500 kV)
  • Transmission Line Protection
  • Substation Protection and Control Systems
  • Generator, Transformer and Bus Protection Schemes
  • Development of station/substation single-line, protection, control and SCADA diagrams including utility and ISO interconnection and operational requirements
  • Equipment specifications, designs and layouts including major equipment and protection, control, SCADA, and low-voltage auxiliary systems
  • Codes and Standards: NEC, NFPA, NESC, OSHA, NERC, RUS, IEEE, ANSI, IEC, Local and Federal Building Codes
  • Minimum of 3 years of application experience with SEL, GE, etc. relays.
  • Highly motivated and able to execute tasks from a lead role.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team setting.
  • Skilled in engineering theories and principles.
  • Skilled in practice of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.
  • Skilled in problem solving in time-sensitive situations
