About the role

Play a foundational role in driving data strategy and shaping Sierra’s data future
Conduct deep-dive analyses of customer data to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights
Develop and deploy machine learning models to analyze customer engagement and optimize experiences across chat, agent interactions, and product usage
Build experimentation capabilities and evaluate models for experimentation and causal inference (A/B testing)
Partner with product, engineering, and research teams to inform product strategy and execution and experiment rapidly
Partner with the data platform team to ensure robust data pipelines and a scalable infrastructure for advanced analytics

Extensive experience in data science and analytics, with background leading projects from ideation to launch
Passion for deeply understanding user needs and finding the right solutions from first principles
Comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment, able to adapt to changing priorities and handle ambiguity
Strong proficiency in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining techniques using tools such as Python, R, SQL, and cloud-based platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP)
Experience with large-scale data analysis, and working with structured and unstructured data (including customer interaction data, chat logs, and user behavior data)
Ability to build and evaluate models for experimentation and causal inference, with a clear understanding of designing and analyzing A/B tests
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical results to non-technical stakeholders
Ability to partner closely with product, engineering, and leadership
Experience working with large language models (LLMs), conversational AI, or agent-based systems (preferred)
Familiarity with building or improving data platforms for advanced analytics (preferred)
Exposure to product analytics or customer experience research in a SaaS or consumer-facing tech company (preferred)
