Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the development of detailed operations and maintenance manuals, supplements, and related documentation for high-impact aerospace and defense systems.
Collaborate closely with subject matter experts to gather detailed technical information and ensure documentation accuracy.
Utilize engineering drawings, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models to create comprehensive technical documents.
Lead internal and external documentation review meetings, gather feedback, and implement revisions.
Ensure all documentation complies with the highest customer requirements, company standards, and industry regulations.
Maintain and update documentation as systems and specifications evolve.
Support proposal preparation by providing necessary documentation and technical writing expertise.
Manage and organize documentation files and records for easy accessibility and version control.
Mentor and guide junior and mid-level technical writers, providing technical expertise and support.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance documentation quality and efficiency.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Engineering, Aerospace, Aviation or a related field.
4+ years of experience in technical writing or a related field within the aerospace and defense industry.
Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
Advanced proficiency with documentation tools and software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe FrameMaker and Extensible Markup Language/Standard Generalized Markup Language (XML/SGML).
Advanced knowledge of technical writing principles, practices, and standards.
Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
