About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work at the clinic site in collaboration with Cancer Care Leadership
- Ensure high-quality and safe interpretation, delivery, operation, and monitoring of radiation safety policies, procedures, standards, and equipment
- Ensure delivery of high-quality radiation therapy
- Provide staff education, training, and oversight to minimize radiation exposure
- Calibrate dose meters and radiation equipment
- Acquire beam data and prepare data for treatment planning systems
- Develop and improve dose measurement systems, protocols, and dosimetry software
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational radiation safety regulations
- Participate in performance improvement activities and develop policies, procedures, and standards of practice
- Assist with acceptance testing, commissioning, and recommissioning of machines
- Perform individual treatment planning, dosimetry calculations, and physics treatment-planning reviews
- Provide physics consultation to radiation oncology personnel and radiation oncologists
- Verify the department treatment planning system routinely
- Collaborate with information services and manage planning-system software
- Assist with planning and shielding calculations for new radiation facilities and programs
- Interpret regulatory changes and prepare documentation summaries
- Perform dosimetry checks after source changes
- Assist with selection and acquisition of sources for permanent implant techniques
- Participate in clinical education, training, and competency evaluations for medical physics, dosimetry, and therapy staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- Located or willing to relocate to Milwaukee, WI or surrounding area
- Required M.S. or PhD in Medical Physics or a closely related field
- Minimum of 5+ years of clinical experience in addition to a CAMPEP-accredited residency
- Candidates who have passed Part I and possibly Part II ABR Exams preferred
- Experience with High Dose Rate (HDR) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) programs preferred
- Computer system administration experience with patient record and verify database applications desirable
- Certification in Radiation Oncology Physics by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or another alternative certifying body
- Non-certified candidates must be eligible for board certification and achieve certification within 3 years of hire
- Must apply for and maintain relevant state licensing and/or registration required for working as a medical physicist at the clinical site
- Must meet applicable client Vendor Credentialing requirements
- Must provide valid identification as required
- Must pass criminal background checks and drug screens as applicable
- Must meet required immunization and annual TB-testing requirements as applicable
- Must complete required healthcare training
- Must be able to work with controlled technology in accordance with U.S. export control law
