About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a team of Cloud application development and support engineers
  • Educate and guide the team on technical architecture
  • Develop POCs and reference implementations for architecture components
  • Architect and design cloud applications focusing on AWS

  • Ensure development adheres to guidelines and supports continuous improvement
  • Validate component solution designs for supportability, operability, and service levels
  • Support root cause analysis and remediation of production issues
  • Collaborate with application, network, infrastructure, AWS platform, and application teams
  • Communicate status, risks, and issues and recommend remediation or change
  • Provide estimates within architectural guidelines
  • Apply standards and research and share best practices
  • Participate in roadmap reviews and feasibility assessments
  • Own availability, performance, capacity, and maintenance of portfolio technology services
  • Mentor, develop, and hold career conversations with team members
  • Transfer knowledge to on-shore and off-shore teams
  • Support process improvements to improve application platform stability and performance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive technical experience in infrastructure or production management
  • 12+ years of experience in application architecture
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud application architecture and infrastructure management
  • Experience directly leading a cloud software development team
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms; AWS preferred
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, firewalls, load balancers, and DNS
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills in an IT environment
  • Process, tools, and service-level improvement experience
  • Documentation experience using standard tools, SharePoint, and Confluence
  • Articulate, independent, and detail-oriented
