About the role
- Leads Commodity teams
- Establishes and maintains approved supplier list and capability matrix
- Works within the team to establish the company’s strategy and direction within the given commodity
- Adapts the strategy as business, market, and economic environments change
- Conducts Life-Cycle analysis for commodity, as appropriate
- Identifies cost reduction opportunities within the team and drive implementation to achieve the reductions
- Populates supplier scorecard (R/Y/G)
- Maintains the commodity code classification system (ensure they are correct/create new)
- Initiates and conducts annual supplier contract negotiations with Purchasing Manager
- Conducts spend analysis, leading to negotiation with supply base
- Leads/Co-leads pricing negotiations
- Establishes terms and conditions for contracts
- Generates cost reduction targets (not just PPV, but also cost avoidance)
- Creates cost models for relevant commodities
- Analyzes market trends
- Conducts market analysis for price, lead-time, and capacity
- Sets up speculative buys or other strategies as needed due to market trends
- Analyzes market drivers affecting the commodity (raw material, component availability, global supply and demand, etc.)
- Manages supplier relationship and conducts supplier business reviews
- Utilizes standardized agenda
- Conducts technology roadmap alignment – Coordinates with Engineering
- Identifies cost reduction opportunities
- Reviews delivery performance
- Reviews quality performance
- Reviews contract performance
- Conducts spend analysis
- Supply Resolution
- Point of escalation for major supply issues
- Identifies multi sourcing opportunities
- Works with internal teams and suppliers to create supply programs and processes to mitigate supply risk
- Contract Management (Negotiates supplier contracts, including regarding Supply, Pricing, Development, NDAs, etc)
- Coordinates supplier technology presentations for engineering. Introduce new suppliers to Shure engineering when necessary and assist in educating Shure engineering about the approved supplier list.
- Participates in establishing and maintaining best practices for Strategic Sourcing and reporting of objectives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain or Engineering
- 7 years exp. in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Engineering position in a medium to high-volume manufacturing environment
- Sourcing experience in working directly with distributors and/or OEMs to negotiate contract pricing to be used across multiple CEM suppliers
- Extensive experience in electronic & semiconductor components
- Experience and knowledge in PCBA manufacturing and assembly processes
- Competence with MS Office software, MS Excel and MS Access is a plus
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving and project management skills required
- Demonstrated negotiation skills
- Travel 10% globally
