About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the full product loop end-to-end: AI-augmented discovery, story/spec, prototype, production PR, and outcome measurement
Own forecasting, placement, and replenishment decision surfaces for Inventory Optimization
Define product contracts for demand forecasts and distribution recommendations, ship them into merchant workflows, and measure adoption and forecast accuracy
Run customer discovery and synthesize tickets, interviews, behavioral data, and competitive signals using AI tools
Demo products to merchants and partners and understand competitive landscapes and differentiators
Analyze product metrics, identify usage patterns and anomalies, and define success metrics and kill thresholds
Maintain a prioritized roadmap ranked by impact and speed
Evaluate solution fit with ShipBob’s architecture, service boundaries, data structures, and API-driven data contracts
Write story/specs, review AI-generated code, and promote prototype changes into production PRs
Set experiment hypotheses and make rollout-or-kill decisions using AI-surfaced data
Participate in architecture reviews and make build-vs-buy-vs-defer decisions
Map the Inventory Optimization domain, ship an initial PR, and make a measurable rollout-or-kill decision within the first 90 days
Report to a Director, AI Product Builder

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of product management, product engineering, or equivalent experience
Demonstrated hands-on AI tool usage in a professional context
Ability to write precise story/specs that AI tools can act on directly, including state machines, business rules, data contracts, and edge cases
Technical fluency to read data models, evaluate API contracts, and identify deviations in AI-generated code
Track record of shipping working prototypes or production code
Ability to set success metrics and kill thresholds at spec time and track them after launch
Experience in supply chain, fulfillment, logistics, transportation, or e-commerce technology
Comfortable operating in a fail-fast culture
Excellent written communication
Nice to have: hands-on experience with Claude Code, Driver.ai, Cursor, Replit, V0, or Figma AI
Nice to have: working knowledge of Python, SQL, or TypeScript
Nice to have: experience with inventory planning, demand forecasting, replenishment, or multi-node placement and distribution optimization at scale
Nice to have: experience transitioning a product team from traditional SDLC to an AI-native operating model
