About the role

  • Handle inbound pharmacy calls and conduct proactive outbound refill and engagement calls in English and Spanish
  • Educate and guide patients through the end-to-end medication refill process
  • Coordinate prescription refills, including data entry and pharmacy claim adjudication
  • Perform prescription status checks and resolve adjudication or coverage issues
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, pharmacists, clinicians, payors, and internal support teams
  • Communicate with pharmacists and clinicians to clarify prescriptions and resolve discrepancies
  • Identify medications requiring special handling (e.g., refrigerated or hazardous) and ensure proper protocols
  • Accurately document and maintain patient, prescription, and communication records across multiple systems
  • Identify repeat issues and trends, escalating opportunities for workflow or process improvement
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and healthcare privacy standards
  • Participate in ongoing training, quality assurance activities, and professional development
  • Maintain schedule flexibility to support health system partner needs

Requirements

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) required
  • Active State Pharmacy Technician registration (obtainable with national certification)
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1–3 years of pharmacy technician experience preferred, particularly in:
  • Medication refill management
  • Pharmacy claim adjudication and insurance troubleshooting
  • Specialty pharmacy or complex therapies
  • Collaboration with clinical care teams
  • Remote, call center, or high-volume pharmacy environments (strong plus)
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (spoken and written) is required
  • Ability to communicate complex healthcare and medication information clearly and compassionately in both languages
  • Experience supporting diverse or underserved patient populations preferred
  • Exceptional phone presence and patient communication skills
  • Comfortable with proactive outbound patient engagement
  • Strong collaboration skills across clinical, pharmacy, and payor teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems, platforms, and workflows
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and multitasking abilities
