About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform terminations for cabling and repairs on medium/high (5kV and up) voltage electrical distribution systems
Perform cable splicing of medium voltage lines
Install additional power feeds and make land connections on transformers, junction boxes, switchgear, switches, and related equipment
De-energize high-voltage lines or equipment, test for voltage, and install grounding devices for worker safety
Assist with installation and maintenance of transformers, capacitors, insulators, lightning arrestors, switches, circuit breakers, and other high-voltage distribution accessories
Locate and identify failed cables for repair
Work in, near, or on hot lines when necessary using appropriate equipment
Perform work according to OSHA, National, and site-specific safety practices and procedures
Perform other duties assigned by Site Management
Work hands-on in the field alongside engineers and field technicians

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master Electrician, Journeyman Electrician, or Apprentice Electrician is a plus but not a requirement
Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Electrical/Electrical Technology, or military experience
Certifications from major manufacturers such as 3M, Richards, and Hubbell for terminations
Familiarity with Megger, Hi-Pot, VLF, Thumper, and TDR for cable testing
Knowledge of testing transformers, switchgear, and circuit breakers
Field experience in the industrial field with power and control systems
Understanding of electrical schematics and controls
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Team-oriented, flexible, and willing to assist in other technical disciplines
Hand and power tool capabilities
Willingness to work hands-on in the field alongside engineers and field technicians
Must clearly and effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing
Must lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations
Should be able to pass a fit-for-duty physical exam when required
Must pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic unannounced random drug tests
Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check
Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without employer-sponsored visa/work permit
