About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform terminations for cabling and repairs on medium/high (5kV and up) voltage electrical distribution systems
  • Perform cable splicing of medium voltage lines
  • Install additional power feeds and make land connections on transformers, junction boxes, switchgear, switches, and related equipment
  • De-energize high-voltage lines or equipment, test for voltage, and install grounding devices for worker safety
  • Assist with installation and maintenance of transformers, capacitors, insulators, lightning arrestors, switches, circuit breakers, and other high-voltage distribution accessories
  • Locate and identify failed cables for repair
  • Work in, near, or on hot lines when necessary using appropriate equipment
  • Perform work according to OSHA, National, and site-specific safety practices and procedures
  • Perform other duties assigned by Site Management
  • Work hands-on in the field alongside engineers and field technicians

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master Electrician, Journeyman Electrician, or Apprentice Electrician is a plus but not a requirement
  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Electrical/Electrical Technology, or military experience
  • Certifications from major manufacturers such as 3M, Richards, and Hubbell for terminations
  • Familiarity with Megger, Hi-Pot, VLF, Thumper, and TDR for cable testing
  • Knowledge of testing transformers, switchgear, and circuit breakers
  • Field experience in the industrial field with power and control systems
  • Understanding of electrical schematics and controls
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and willing to assist in other technical disciplines
  • Hand and power tool capabilities
  • Willingness to work hands-on in the field alongside engineers and field technicians
  • Must clearly and effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing
  • Must lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Should be able to pass a fit-for-duty physical exam when required
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic unannounced random drug tests
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check
  • Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without employer-sponsored visa/work permit
